Dervla McCarey

Senior Architect

B Arch Sc, Dip. Arch, MRIAI

Member of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland

Dervla brings a wealth of experience to Mountford Architects. Originally graduating from the Dublin Institute of Technology – Trinity College – she began her career at the busy Dublin offices of HKR Architects working on the delivery of residential, hospitality and heritage projects across the city. On traveling to Perth in 2007 she was quickly hired by Hassel Architects to work on the Brookfield Place/BHP tower project. Her role was for the refurbishment of the old West Australian Newspaper House now known as the ‘Print Hall’. Dervla’s project experience and eye for timeless finishes and interiors were recognized by the judges of the WA Institute of Architects in 2013 with the project being awarded in both the heritage and commercial categories.

Prior to starting with Mountfords in early 2019, Dervla spent a defining 12 years working for Philippa Mowbray Architects in the Western Suburbs of Perth where she was responsible for the design and delivery of several large scale luxury homes in the 5-10 mil price range. Her role was a holistic one as both design and project architect starting with the sketches and finishing with the administration of the build and hand over. No detail was left to chance and these homes have since become neighborhood favorites and fine examples of high-end contemporary residential architecture.

Two homes during this period were featured in national print media- Inside Out Magazine and one for television on Designing Australia. In 2018 Dervla was once again an award-winning architect for her work on the M + C residence in Saunders St Mosman Park which received the AIA WA Chapter Architect’s Award for New Houses.

Dervla compliments an already well-formed team at Montford Architects bringing her projects experience at the highest level of finish and delivery.
